Glad you liked it and so good to hear from you again. The rare book collector bit is good–similar to Daniel Silva’s art-restorer protagonist, Gabriel Allon. Gives so much more depth and nuance to the plot. I don’t know about collecting books, but Berry and his wife have founded a historical society. You can read about it on this Web site.

Syd, Steve Berry lives right up the road from me here in Jacksonville, Florida. I’ve missed a couple of chances to hear him discuss his books in local bookstores here. But I’ve read a couple of his early books. THE ROMANOV PROPHECY was pure genius – a great blend of history and suspense.

I’m surprised to hear that Cotton Malone is a rare-book dealer. What a great occupation for an adventurer! I wonder if Berry himself collects books.
